Web 2.0 - Producer? Consumer? Lurker? Leecher?

Web 2.0 – are you a producer or just a contributor?

The evolution continues – from just a few static pages of content – to multimedia displays and streaming from well financed outlets – to an interactive anyone can be someone with the click of a button. The original idea of the world wide web was to share information and data – mainly amongst academics and researchers. With commercialization in the mid 1990's the Web was opened up to anyone for better or worse. Early adopters could fairly easily create their own content. "Personal Web Server" could be added to Windows 95! GeoCities was an early hosting site for your personal homepage, and ISP's offered hosting free with connection subscriptions. But you still had to know a little bit – how to arrange, god forbid maybe even code a little on your own too….

Now, with the plethora of tools available connected is ubiquitous. Arranging in Word or other common tools is easy and publishing a quick click. Heck, who cares about layout when Facebook and others just plop it down for you anyway. Content is key, not looks. Right? And the RIGHT to CONTRIBUTE is a universal LAW now, correct? You got something to say – and EVERYONE has to LISTEN!
